From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

During cruise flight the pilot noticed engine RPM was lower than expected. The pilot rolled on power but RPM did not increase. The pilot initiated an auto-rotation. During descent the engine quit. The aircraft landed in a football field. No injuries occurred.

The oil temperature sensor was found hanging by its electrical connector inside the engine compartment. Less than 1 quart of oil was remaining inside the engine. The engine will be sent out for overhaul. The aircraft?s aft landing gear crossbeam was bent exceeding the one inch limit, requiring a hard landing inspection to be performed. No other damage was noted.

STC SH1065NE airwolf remote filter system was installed on 03/31/2009 at aircraft total time 1313.1, which is 1298 hours of operation prior to this incident.

The last inspection performed was a 100 hour inspection dated 07/26/2014 at aircraft total time 2588.9, which is 22.2 hours of operation prior to the incident. No other maintenance was recorded in the records since that inspection.
