From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot departed great barrington airport, MA (kgbr) destined for norwood airport, MA (kowd). During enroute to destination pilot declared mayday emergency due to #1 engine cylinder high temperature indication. No fire, no smoke observed, and pilot initially intended to complete emergency landing at barnes airport, MA (kbaf). Pilot then decided he couldn't make kbaf airport and attempted to land aircraft in farmers grass field. Upon touch down with flaps fully retracted and power applied, the nose gear impacted ground and was sheared off the aircraft. Aircraft then spun around 180 degrees and came to rest on the nose of the aircraft.
