From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

This office was notified via great lakes roc and subsequent dra report that sun country airlines (scna), scx flt 392, following arrival in msp, MN the airport authority (mac) reported to msp ATCT that sun country had called to report visible damage to the acft cargo door area fuselage structure.

Damage was discovered by scna msp mechanic during a postflight walkaround visual inspection. At the time of notification, the operator could not confirm whether the damage had occurred in msp or sfo following previous flight (scx 391 msp-sfo). Later determined that damage had occurred at the sfo ramp/gate area prior to departure of scx flt 392 (sfo-msp).

Structural damage to fuselage skin primary structure was caused as a result of a ground operated belt loader operational error, which resulted in collision/contact by the belt loader with the aircraft during ground operations. Ground damage occurred at the ramp/gate between scheduled revenue flights turning in sfo (msp-sfo-msp).

The aircraft was removed from service immediately following discovery of damage, prior to any further revenue flight and returned to the minneapolis MN scna hangar for repairs.

As the FAA filed it
