From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Received a report of an aircraft occurrence that occured on 11/18/2014, which was reported by regional operations center, of a Cessna 550 aircraft (N438SP) reporting an unsafe gear indication while on inbound to Atlanta airport (atl).

Contacted the local FBO (landmark aviation), located on the Atlanta airport, and was given the name and number of the flight crew. Contact was made with the pilot in charge (PIC) privacy data omitted who is also the chief pilot for privacy data omitted privacy data omitted explained to me over the phone, that he had a main gear unsafe indication on approach to the Atlanta airport. He then went on to state that

He flew around the airport and eventually got the three green lights and landed the aircraft uneventfully. Maintenance was not called and he made the decision to fly back to meridian ms with the gear down.

privacy data omitted Provided me with the number to the maintenance facility where the aircraft was being maintained. I then contacted the director of maintenance (dom) Mr. Leonard dean who stated that the preliminary disposition of the aircraft as having an indication problem behind the gear lights lighting panel. At my request, Mr. Dean also provided me with a section of the flight manual supplement procedures associated with the ?landing gear will not extend?. It is noted in the flight manual that ?once the emergency gear extension system has been used, do not attempt to raise the gear?. The aircraft is now in maintenance awaiting disposition.

Received maintenance log for N438SP. The aircraft was repaired and the log also clearly states that the emergency gear release pull knob and t-handle had to be reset. This reset is due to the emergency gear extension system being employed.
