From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Skydiver departed aircraft on a sport jump and successfully deployed his parachute. While making a high performance (swooping) landing he states that he misjudged his altitude above the ground and was approximately 5 feet low on his landing flare. As he swooped across the ground he hit an unknown object sticking up higher than the landing zone surface.

The skydiver suffered a broken tibia, fibula, and femur because of impacting the ground at a great forward speed. His injuries required him to be hospitalized fro 3 days and he is continuing hospitalization for additional skin grafts.

This jumper was familiar with the drop zone and had made a successful jump earlier in the day. His total experience is 440 jumps prior to this jump. He has been jumping for 2 years, and has owned the parachute rig that he was jumping for most of that time.
