From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Student pilot landed aircraft on runway 23. After rollout on runway 23 aircraft slowed to a stop and began executing a 180 degree left turn so the student could back taxi down the runway to drop the CFI off. While completing this left hand turn, the left landing gear strut collapsed. Initial investigation reveals left landing gear strut broke off outboard of the attaching bolt. This resulted in the aircraft resting on the left wing tip in the middle of the runway with associated damage to the left wing tip, left horizontal stabilator and elevator.
