The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
Initial statement to NTSB investigator by pilotprivacy data omitted was that Stinson 108-3 N4449P aircraft ground looped on landing off airport damaging left wing and wing spar. NTSB classified this as an accident. Pilot responded to FAA iic letter of inquiry with several phone calls and the following written statement:
Here is the information you requested to the best of my knowledge:
On March 1st, 2015 I ground looped a Stinson 108-3 on the outside beach near point steele, near Cordova, AK. I departed from Cordova at approximately at 11:00AM and arrived at pt. Steele at approximately 11:20AM. Skies were clear and calm in Cordova. It seemed to me like I sheared a valve stem upon landing. The plane ground looped damaging one wing tip. There were no injuries, and I was the only occupant in the plane.
There was spar damage to the left wing as well as minor damage to the right wing tip. Most of the damage to the right wing occurred during helicopter transport. There was also damage to the prop. There was no landing gear damage other than a blown tire on the left side.
The total time on the airframe is 2261 hours. Total time on the engine is 730 smoh. I have 85 total pilot hours, 24 of which are in the Stinson. I received my certifications on 1/27/14. Believe it or not, I don?t have any pictures, but I might be able to scrounge some up from someone.
