From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

A VFR flight departed 1025 CST from jones riverside airport tulsa, OK. (Krvs) flew to haskell municipal airport (2K9) for landings and takeoffs. They had aborted the landing due to the crosswind. They were returning back to krvs @ 1700 feet MSL when the pilot stated- "before he was able to contact the tower, he felt the stick ?pop? And the airplane nose lurched downward. He pulled the throttle and shut the mags off. His passenger then turned the trim but nothing happened. He then slipped the airplane to make the nose come back to the horizon, and about 150 feet prior to the impact he straightened the airplane back and they hit. The gear flew off, the prop struck, the cowling hit, and it flipped and landed inverted." He further stated that at "about 1115 CST they exited the aircraft and began contacting authorities."
