What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
Annual inspection had just been completed and the pilot was ferrying the aircraft back to Ontario, OR for the owner. Runway 14 was active and with additional traffic in the pattern, the pilot extended his downwind. When he turned base to final, he added full rich mixture and the engine just quit. The aircraft flew over a powerline and touched down on the edge in a soft field. It travelled up an embankment and came to rest in the mud along a river.
