From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Airman was performing as part of a three ship formation. Airman was trailing two other aircraft. Airman intended to complete a barrel roll maneuver around the smoke trail of the two other aircraft. Upon completion of the first roll, airman was positioned slightly ahead rather than behind the other two aircraft. The right elevator of the rolling aircraft struck the propeller of the right wingman as the rolling aircraft began its second roll. Rolling aircraft sustained substantial damage to his right elevator and horizontal stabilizer. Right wingman sustained damaged to both propeller blades. One blade was broken in half and the other blade was missing one third of the tip. Right wingman landed at ktcl. Rolling aircraft landed at M95 airport after determining he could maintain aircraft controllability.
