From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

Formal incident statement:

Was on IFR flight plan for direct flight from ktpf to kbct on April 3rd, 2015 and departed ktpf at around 1 pm local time as filed. Plane was flown by partner day before and no issues relayed re; any mechanical problems. Preflight performed on ground at ktpf was normal and no abnormalities detected. Upon taxi and runup brakes tested and held normally without any abnormalities at 2000 RPM. Full checklist for preflight, runup performed. Takeoff, climbout, flight and approach segments normal. During approach was taken out on an extended downwind by tower for sequencing with gear down and locked with three green at midfield downwind. Prop fully forward and mixture rich with flaps deployed. Landing check (gumps check) was performed and I was following a globemaster jet ahead of me in pattern. I was appropriately advised of wake turbulence and was closely behind him in pattern and witnessed him land on or just past touchdown zone markings so I aimed my flightpath above his and touchdown further down runway to avoid dangerous turbulence. A crosswind configuration of the plane was necessary to maintain runway centerline due to gusty 12-15 knot direct crosswind which also would possibly make the plane more susceptible to wake turbulence. Touchdown was normal and I started airbraking and applied the brakes normally and had no braking action as they depressed to floor. I continued airbraking with full elevator deflection upward and continued down the runway. As I approached the end of the runway I had slowed down considerably and tried the brakes again. The left side went to the floor but the right brake caught and locked pulling plane immediately to the right in a 90 curved turn. No pumping or opposite rudder action had any effect as I departed runway centerline and plane went off the paved runway for about 10 ft. at about 30 mph. The soft sand trapped the front gear which immediately collapsed and the prop struck at idle engine speed. I was wearing a three point seat belt and sustained no trauma injury or whiplash. I was the only occupant in the plane. I rose flaps to full up position and tower contacted me to ask if I was ok via radio which I replied yes. I then shut off all electronics. Mags. Alternators and masters and departed plane via normal exit.
