From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On April 4, 2015 the pilot in command (PIC) of the aircraft took off from calaveras airport, California (kcpu) to lodi, California airport (1O3) to watch the parachute exhibition at the lodi airport. On his approach for landing at lodi airport east to west on runway 26, the PIC indicated that he slowed the plane to approach speed of 65 knots and used partial flaps. PIC stated that he intended to land near the approach end of runway 26 due to parachuting activity going on and that the parachute operation?s airplanes were using the other runway 8 to take off and land. Runway 8 runs north to south and intersects runway 26 that runs east to west. During descent to land on runway 26, the pilot indicated he may have been lower than normal in his approach to the runway and possibly hit something that caused a loud bang. A search of the area at the beginning of the runway, which is perpendicular to highway 99, and the farming fields before the runway showed no indication of any object being impacted by the aircraft. The airport manager stated that there were no calls to the airport indicating that an object was hit by the plane when landing. After the loud bang, the pilot did not notice any adverse vibration or engine problems and continued his descent to land. Upon touch down and shortly after rolling the right landing gear strut impacted the runway without the right wheel attached. The right landing gear wheel fell off before the aircraft touched down on the runway. Right wheel assembly was found approximately 100 feet from the beginning of the runway before the aircraft landed. In approximately 200 feet the nose wheel after landing sheared off and the strut impacted the runway. PIC stated that the propeller impacted the runway during the final roll out before the aircraft came to rest on the runway. Several individuals at the airport picked the aircraft up and positioned it off the runway.

As the FAA filed it
