From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Private pilot rented N33691, a PA-28, from WINGS270, LLC at chandler airport, AZ. The pilot reported that he had a rough landing at Payson, AZ. (Kpan), which resulted in a propeller strike. He stated the aircraft bounced three times before he decided to go-around and that each bounce was worse than the one before. The pilot blamed the rough landing on pilot induced oscillations (pio.) He stated he did not know the aircraft was damaged. He said out of embarrassment he opted to fly to his next destination, winslow (kinw), AZ., which is over 50 NM from kpan. The pilot stated that he did not notice anything unusual with the aircraft only that it was not climbing as well. When he landed at kinw he stated the aircraft required a great deal more rudder input and that the throttle was sticking. Only after shut down did he realize the full extent of the damages. Pilot filed a NASA report. The insurance company has deemed the aircraft beyond economical repair and will sell the aircraft as salvage. Damages to the aircraft include; damage to propeller, damage to the engine mounts, and skin damage from where torque link of nose gear impacted aircraft aft firewall.

A 44709 letter was issued.
