From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot had door unlock and open while in VFR cruise flight at 9500' MSL. He could not lock the door and started a descent to for a landing at 0V4. The approach was a high speed right base turn to final with the landing gear up. The landing gear was extended while on short final. Touch down was attempted with the landing gear in transit. The right mainmount wheel/axle/brake assembly broke off during the initial touch down. The aircraft porpoised on the runway and then ran off on the right side. While rolling through the grassy area on the right side of the runway, the nose gear broke off and the right landing gear strut without the wheel assembly dug into the grass and was forced back into the retracted position. The aircraft then turned to the left about 80 degrees and rolled to the right coming to rest on the right wingtip.
