From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The mesa airlines aircraft had operated as flight 5612 from abq to phx. Upon arrival, the flight crew inadvertently began a right turn into gate B23, where in fact the assigned gate was B21. The aircraft was under power using the right engine. The crew attempted to reposition the aircraft to gate B21 by making a 180 degree turn to the right. While in the turn, the left leading edge of the horizontal stabilizer clipped the top edge of the left wing winglet of an American airlines B-757 parked at gate B25.
