The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
On may 10, 2015 at approximately 1950 central standard time (CST) an emergency landing was made by pilot while performing aerial agricultural operations in aircraft N7279Z.
Summary: pilot landed aircraft N7279Z on county road e 830, which was 2/10TH-OF a mile east of county road n. 2680 in Omega ok (73764). The collision location was approximately 11.2 miles east and 2.0 miles south from Watonga, OK (73772). The pilot reported to the Oklahoma highway patrol trooper, that he was uninjured. The aircraft experienced a loss of engine power, causing the pilot to make an emergency landing on the county road. Pilot said after the aircraft landed/touching down on the road, the aircraft?s left wing tip struck a fence post which caused him to lose control of the airplane and travel off of the roadway.
On site photographs taken by trooper details the Piper PA-25-235, serial number 25-3219 left wing tip sustained substantial damage to the left wing main spar.
On may 20, 2015 the aircraft was recovered by air salvage of dallas (asod) and NTSB investigator, has authorized asod to perform an engine run, to determine airworthiness of the engine.
On may 27, 2015, during a telephone interview, the pilot described his first indication of the problem was after the last past/spraying through the field he, the pilot saw the engine temperature reading rapidly rise to 260 degree-redlined. The pilot stated after completing an ag-turn the aircraft?s motor got hot. The fuel quantity indication was approximately 30 gallons. The engine ran all the way to the ground, although it ran at half power. The pilot?s response to the emergency was to place the fuel mix to full rich, checked the magnetos-in the on-position and look for a safe place to land the aircraft.
