From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot performed locally 3 landings and later decided to fly south over manatee river. Over the river, pilot turned north to return to airport and suddenly engine quit without a sputter. He was about 1,000 feet and tried to re-start the engine but no response. At that time pilot decided to look for a place to land near south of the river. Found a few empty lots from a construction site where he could make a landing. About 100 feet from the ground he made a sharp left turn to avoid hitting a house next to to empty lot. Left gear hit first and folded. No other damage to aircraft
