From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot departed from destin, FL. (Dts) at 510AM CDT and headed to cobb county (ryy). He had approx 37 gals of fuel. About an hour and a half (1.5HR) into the flight, the aircraft sputtered. Pilot switched tanks and decided to look for a place to land for fuel. Pilot made an approach into carrolton (ctj) but it was socked in (00 IFR). The pilot decided to go west and look for an alternate landing field. He found it clear in Bowdon, GA. Where he found hwy 100 open and available to land. He landed safely on hwy 100 approx MM2 (3700 block) which is appro 8 miles south of Bowdon. He began to taxi the aircraft to a safe area. He taxied about a 1/4 mile where there were two road signs (one on either side of the road). He tried to get between the signs when he struck one sign with the left wing. He continued to taxi til he found a safe drive way. He parked his aircraft and then looked at the damage. He found a dent about 3 inches wide by 6 inches high, about 7 inches in from the wing tip. He also found that he had struck a telephone cable during his decent with the propeller. The damage was limited to the LH leading edge.
