From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On July 10, 2015 at approx. 0845 PST a Mooney M20G, had been on an instructional flight with a CFI and a private pilot being instructed to upgrade to commercial pilot.

While approaching Deer Valley Airport (dvt) the CFI told the pilot they were going to practice a power off 180 to land and do a touch and go.

The private pilot thought he was too low on final at 30 feet AGL. The pilot then stated that he pushed the throttle to full power and that nothing happened. The aircraft then impacted the rocks prior to the runway at 50 feet from the edge of the runway, substantial damge occurred to the gear and wings after skidding onto the runway and off the edge of the runway where it stopped.
