From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

After departing runway 24 at Dutchess County Airport, this aircraft was forced to make an off field, gear up landing due to loss of power resulting in substatial damage to the aircraft.

The pilot reported that he noticed a vibration and heard an unusual noise on takeoff. The pilot reported that he tapped the brakes to stop the rotation but the vibration continued and the aircraft was not climbing. The pilot reported that he did not have sufficient airspeed to return to the airport so he was forced to make the off field landing.

The NTSB has arranged for the engine to be evaluated by the manufacturer to determine the cause of loss of power. This report will be amended when more details are availabe.

Amended 11/19/2015 - the NTSB has arranged for the engine to be evaluated by the manufacturer. Received engine test run report/ inspector statement for this aircraft on 11/17/2015. According to the report causal factor/observations, the engine test run was performed throughout specified manufactures power ranges and operated normally. At high RPM fuel flow was higher than manufactures specifications; no adjustments to fuel systems were made during the test. Reason for power loss remains unknown.
