From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Student pilot was on his first unsupervised solo flight. On the first landing, the pilot touched down and realized he was aiming toward the side of the runway. Pilot felt like he was going to go off the edge of the runway regardless of aborting or executing a go-around. He elected to stop the aircraft in a clearing next to the runway. He went off the runway and hit three frangible taxi lights. One hit the engine exhaust and did no damage to the aircraft. A second hit the right side cowl and left a small dent. The third hit the left side cowl and also left a small dent. The pilot exited the aircraft and was not injured.
