From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

While on final for runway 32 at Pearland Regional Airport student pilot while flying solo inadvertently retarded the mixture lever instead of the throttle causing the aircraft engine to quit. The student pilot did not restart engine. The aircraft came to rest approximately 1200 feet short of the threshold of runway 32. The aircraft impacted a small group of trees folding back the right wing. The left wing impacted a tree remaining attached to the airframe but damaging the inner wing spar. Resulting in substancial damage to the aircraft.
