On 8-15-2015, N4542R attempted take-off on runway 21 at Venango Regional Airport (fkl). According to the pilot's statement, shortly after he rotated the nose, he determined that the engine was not reaching proper RPM and elected to abort the take-off. While the pilot was paying attention to the rpms, the aircraft drifted left and struck a runway light. The pilot guided the aircraft back to the runway centerline and continued the roll-out without further incident. There were no injuries to the pilot or his two passengers. Upon inspection, the following damage was noted: minor damage to the aircraft consisted of a dent and small hole in the left main landing gear strut fairing; a small dent in the left stabilator leading edge approximately 18 inches from the out board tip; two small dents in the bottom of the left stabilator at approximately the same distance as the leading edge dent. A subsequent engine run revealed that the the engine mixture was not set correctly and did not rise 50 RPM when the engine was warm and leaned at idle.
