What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
During aerial application operations, the airman inadvertently contacted power lines located on the west end of the field being sprayed. The airman stated he knew there were power lines at that end of the field but did not believe they extended as FAR south along the west edge of the field as they did. The airman stated he was distracted by a truck that was driving immediately adjacent to his flight path along the south edge of the field. Nearing the end of the spray run, the airman remembered there were power lines on that end of the field and saw that they extended across his flight path. He pulled up in an attempt to avoid hitting them. The airplane hit the power lines, severing them, and was able to return to kono and land without difficulty or further incident. The airplane sustained minor damage to both wing tips and scratches to the propeller blades.
