From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On August 26, 2015, aircraft N2005C, a Weatherly 620B, crashed near Hancock, WI, while conducting agricultural spraying operations in VFR conditions. The pilot was the sole occupant of the aircraft and sustained fatal injuries. The aircraft was flying south over a potato field and prior to any obstructions, the aircraft lost sections of the left hand wing in the field; there were no signs of impact damage to the parts or impact marks of aircraft to terrain. The aircraft rolled sharply to the left and entered the wooded area off the southern end of the field. The right hand wing impacted trees approximately 50 yards into the woods and the fuselage impacted terrain approximately 50 yards beyond that in an inverted position.
