From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Approximately 45 minutes into his third flight of the day, the pilot reported smelling a strange odor. He looked at his engine instruments and noticed zero oil pressure and zero oil temperature indications.

The PIC realized he could not make any airport in the area and elected to shut down his engine.

The PIC set up to land on a dirt road, but at the last minute noticed vehicular traffic in the area. He turned left into a plowed field.

The aircraft touched down hard, flipped over and came to rest inverted.

There were minor injuries to the two occupants.
