From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

N537PV departed lake placid airport (lkp) enroute to niettis field in delansing, NY. Near sacandoga lake the aircraft was above a broken to overcast layer. The pilot noticed his fuel was low and decided to turn toward schroon lake airport. With his fuel low he descended through a hole in the clouds. Once below the cloud layer he decided to land in an open field near Brant Lake. The field sloped up away from the lake. Landing uphill, the aircraft's nose gear collapsed and the aircraft came to rest upside down. The pilot then released his belt and harness and exited the aircraft.
