What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
N69BD was operating in the dew traffic pattern and was observed by another flight crew in the dew traffic pattern to be in a near vertical spin in the vicinity of a normal left base leg to rwy 16. The aircraft contacted the ground in a wooded area and was destroyed on impact. Ground impact markings and the compact nature of the debris field were consistent with a high rate/vertical impact. The pilot, who was the only occupant, was killed on impact.
