From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On October 9 2015 the albany flight standards district office (FSDO) was notified of an occurrence at airport designator 1B1 on 10/08/2015 at approximately 20:15 EDT. The emergency operations network reported: on 10/08/2015 at Columbia County Airport(1B1)in Hudson NY. N44985, a BE35 suffered a bird strike to the wing while inbound. 10/14/2015 The owner contacted the albany FSDO and informed them the occurrence happened on rotation out of 1B1. He decided to continue on to N20 due to no abnormal flight characteristics. The albany FSDO arranged to view the aircraft.

10/16/2015 A inspector from the albany FSDO met with registered owner and inspected damage to the aircraft at N20. The aircraft sustained leading edge damage to the right wing just forward of fuel tank filler. The damage extends approximately 24" in width. The lower wing skin distorted aft of the forward main wing spar just aft of the leading edge damage. The albany FSDO discussed with the registered owner on the intended repair. The registered owner stated he was working with a repair facility with extensive repair experience with BE35 aircraft on possible repair options.

12/02/15 Aircraft owner contacted albany FSDO and reported right wing has been removed and sent to repair facility for evaluation and repair. The albany FSDO requested update when repair is evaluated for possible reclassification to accident.

01/19/2016 The registered owner contacted the albany FSDO updating the repair to the wing will not involve any repair to the spar and no internal hidden damage was found.
