From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On November 22, 2015 at tipton airport the pilot of Mooney N5512Q lost power during climb while turning down wind at approximately 800 feet altitude after takeoff from runway 28. Pilot then turned right 180 degrees back to runway 28 to attempt to land on the runway. The aircraft while losing power and lost altitude landed hard mid field at 45 degrees off of runway centerline. Aircraft came to a rest 50 yards to the left of the runway the pilot was not injured. The hard landing tore off nose gear and pushed the left main landing gear into the wing and caused substantial airframe damage.

Prop damage showed evidence of the engine not running.

Due to the pilots report of aircraft engine power loss, engine was ran by anglin aircraft recovery services. Engine run tests were satisfactory and inconclusive of the accident.
