From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilots stated that the aircraft had just transitioned from forward flight into a 50 foot hover. The aircraft rapidly pitched nose down. The pilot corrected by applying full aft cyclic. The aircraft responded but began to roll right. As the pilot attempted to correct the roll, the aircraft began a clockwise rotation. The pilot could not correct the rotation. He attempted to land the aircraft. The aircraft impacted the ground and the aircraft rolled onto its right side. There was evidence of a small post crash fire on the ground at the engine exhaust and on the cowling around the engine compartment.
