What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
CFI was conducting student pilot instruction in daylight, VFR conditions with a 15 knot headwind down the grass strip, runway 35 at Elmdale airport. While practicing take offs and landings in the traffic pattern, the airplane was high and fast during a power off landing; it floated down the runway and bounced on touch down. The airplane landed hard, dragging a wing tip, followed by a ground loop. The nose gear was torn off and both wing tips and wings were heavily damaged. Seat belts and shoulder harnesses prevented serious injury to the CFI and student pilot.
