From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft stalled upon take-off roll and crashed on top of N26724 aircraft next to hanger. Aircraft destroyed after catching fire. There was very little physical evidence to investigate after the fire. Could not determine if their was a mechanical malfunction. We had an eye witness state he saw the aircraft drift across the taxiway coming toward the hangers. This eye witness quickly ran inside the hanger and heard the impact. He did not actually witness the crash. This eye witness ran out to the scene and saw a student pilot completely on fire running from the burning aircraft. By this time other people came out of the hangers trying to assist and render aid. They told the student pilot on fire to lay down in the ditch that was full of water in order to put himself out. He complied with their instructions. They could not get to the pilot for the flames were to high.
