From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The purpose of the flight was to return the aircraft to it's home base of mundane Tahoe airport (kmev) from reno stead airport (arts) after the installation of an aspen evolution electronic flight display, aspen end 1000 system. The departure from stead was uneventful and the pilot contacted etc on 119.2 for clearance through the reno class pc airspace and for flight following to mundane at 7,500'. The inroad phase of the flight was also uneventful and the pilot was able to check several of the functions of the aspen end during the 20 minute operation. Etc terminated flight following approximately 10 miles north of mundane. The pilot descended from 7,500' and entered the downwind leg of mundane runway 34. The pilot stated he was not able to receive the twos but the weather was clear with light winds. No other aircraft were in the pattern. Prior to turning base the pilot thought he lowered the gear and extend 10 degrees of flaps. The turn on base and final were normal and full flaps were extended while on final. The aircraft landed with the gear in the retracted position. The gear warning horn did sound but the pilot did not react soon enough to prevent the gear up landing.
