From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Responded to hwy and found the aircraft with all three landing gear down and locked at a tie down spot. The CFI and student pilot were standing by at the aircraft. The CFI provided the following statement:

" I flew with my student to the warrenton airport to work on commercial landings. We flew 3 times in the traffic pattern ( 3 takeoffs and landings) without incident. The final approach that we made was an accuracy landing. We were on the downwind at midfield when I called the landing checklist. My student went thru the prompts on the checklist. Since this was to be an accuracy landing, the student pinned the gear up to hold into position until he was ready for release. The power was pulled all the way to idle. There was no gear warning horn going off at the time. It appeared that the student had put his hand on the gear handle. From my position the lights cannot be seen due to the throttle quadrant. We continued into ground effect. The aircraft floated then dragged the pavement until its stop."

As the FAA filed it
