From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

From pilots statement: traveling from bzn to mynn.. Family on board: wife and 3 year plus safety pilot. On arrival into kuta we noted a large flock of birds to the right of the aircraft at approx 2000FT, in close proximity to the aircraft.

Quick turn, refuel.

Departed runway 17, outbound departure track was approx 125DEGREES. Made left turn at 600 ft or so. Speed 180 (I like to keep speed on departure at 180KTS, due to birds and other ac). In the left turn, flock came from the left, 4 strikes, 1: pilot windshield, 2: left leading edge, 3: left tailplane, 4: left engine nacelle.

Aircraft power unaffected on rhs, left hand side unstable but fine (higher itt). Ac handling normal. Continued the turn to a left downwind leg, co pilot handled radio. Normal pattern, normal landing.

On inspection, no damage to any area accept lhs nacelle, checked inside nacelle (local engineers present), feathers inside lhs nacelle, washed engine with fresh water and compressed air. T2 probe is right where the inlace was, probe appeared not to be damaged. Preflight ecu check okay. Conducted engine run, engine unstable (high itt), shutdown, rewashed tried again, same result. Suspect T2 damage causing bad data to ecu.

Iic inspected aircraft, damage is isolated to left engine nacelle.

As the FAA filed it
