From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On June 12, 2016 at approx 0845 central time a 1976 lake LA-4-200, registration number N1244L, serial number 743 had been conducting several waterway touch and gos as well as full stop water landings on Greers Ferry lake near heber springs, AR during visual meterological conditions. During the final water landing the aircraft encountered an unexpected wake and flipped tail over nose inverting the aircraft. The pilot and sole passenger egressed the aircraft and stablized on the aircraft wings for a couple minutes until a nearby boat pickup the individuals and transported them to nearby lacy's marina. The 14 code of federal regulations part 91 flight was being operated by the owner. Both individuals received minor injuries and were treated and released by heber springs baptist hospital. The aircraft sustained substantial damage as it apparently struck several underwater rock formations while sinking to the lake bed.
