What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
While conducting routine flight training maneuvers, the student receiving instruction raised the flap control lever to the up/retracted position. After the flaps came up, the student reported to the instructor/pilot-in-command (PIC) that the flight controls felt stiff. The PIC took the controls from the student and found he was unable to move the ailerons. When he released the controls, the aircraft began a left-hand turn. The PIC was able to apply sufficient pressure to the ailerons and rudder to maintain straight and level and controlled flight. The PIC elected to return to kboi and landed without further incident or damage. Damage was limited to a bracket in the left wing and to the outboard left flap and inboard left aileron where they came into contact with each other.
