From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The student initially flew with his flight instructor and then was released for his first solo flight. The student preflighted the tail wheel aircraft and departed on runway 8. A witness stated this takeoff and climb appeared satisfactory and his down wind to base also appeared normal. On final, the student said he lined the aircraft with the runway centerline and touched down. On rollout a gust of wind lifted his left wing. The pilot turned into the wind and the left wing tip struck the ground. The pilot applied full left rudder and brake and the plane exited the runway and impacted a runway sign.
