The privacy data omittedpilot of N369RM was on an IFR flight plan from gatlinburg-pigeon forge airport (gkt) to Portsmouth regional airport (pmh). The pilot in command and was carrying five other family members aboard his Cessna 421. When the PIC neared pmh he cancelled his IFR plan. The weather was VFR and he had the airport in sight. He made his standard traffic calls and indicated that there was no one else in the pattern at the time. The PIC elected to land on runway 36. He conducted his normal checks prior to landing and verified that he had all three green gear light indications. Once he touched down the PIC indicated that he maintained back pressure to ease the nose wheel down. This was his normal landing technique. He said that once the nose wheel touched the ground he had weight on wheels for three to four seconds before the nose gear collapsed. He was able to keep the aircraft on the runway until it came to a complete stop. Once the aircraft stopped he smelled smoke and was concerned about a fire. He told the passengers to exit the aircraft. No one was injured after landing or the evacuation. Once clear of the aircraft, the PIC contacted huntington approach to close the runway. He then contacted the airport manager.
