What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
The pilot took the controls landing the aircraft after an instructional flight. Landing was on rwy 12 with winds from 160 at 10 knots. The right crosswind caused weathervaning to the right, which the pilot attempted to correct with left rudder and differential braking, but the aircraft swerved right. The pilot allowed the aircraft to cross the grass onto the taxiway and attempted to apply braking again but the aircraft swerved further to the right. The right main gear encountered a shallow ditch which caused a groundloop. Aircraft came to rest about 50 feet from the hangar and was moved inside. Minor damage was sustained: broken tailwheel, fairing damage, and broken/bent propeller tips. No injuries.
