From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Investigated an incident that took place on 7/9/16 at the slk airport involving a Beechcraft baron N1028W and an airport van. Upon investigation of N1028W and the airport van, it appeared that the left wingtip of the aircraft had struck the left rear quarter panel and left rear side window of the van. The damage sustained to the baron was limited to the left wingtip as well as a small portion of the leading edge and landing light on the left wing. Upon taxiing out for departure, thunderstorm conditions had enveloped the slk airport resulting in N1028W returning to the ramp to wait out the inclement weather. privacy data omitted (PIC) stated to an airport employee that he was taxiing quickly to the FBO to off load his passengers before it began to rain heavily. The PIC attempted to park the aircraft between the door of the FBO (left side of aircraft) and a large corperate jet (right side of aircraft). The PIC stated that he was focused on the right wing in order to clear the corperate jet and had not seen the van parked by the FBO, ultimately resulting in the left wing striking the van.
