From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The aircraft experienced a loss of power at approximately 3,000 feet. After several unsuccessful attempts to restart the engine, the pilot elected to make a forced landing in a field. During the final approach, previously unseen power lines became visible and the pilot "ducked under" the power lines, resulting in a hard landing that caused substantial damage to the aircraft.

After several inspections of the engine and following a teardown, the cause of the loss of power has not be positively identified.

As the FAA filed it
