From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On return from pleasure flight, pilot attempted to land on rwy 16. Pilot stated the windsock at the private airport was "gusting straight out" on his attempts (9-15 knots windspeed). His normal approach speed of 46 knots was changed to 52 knots due to winds.

On touchdown pilot stated a sudden gust of wind ballooned the aircraft off the runway. Pilot stated he did not apply power and tried to set the aircraft back down. On second touchdown the aircraft ballooned again. On third touchdown the aircraft landed on the NLG which sheared off just above the wheel pant. Aircraft skidded to a stop.

Pilot also stated the treeline located approx 150 metres off end of runway requires a steep approach angle to clear
