From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Airman was operating an experimental home build bugatti-demonge 100P. This aircraft was one of only 2 built and N110PX was the only one to ever fly on 2 other occasions.

The airman rotated approximately 5000 feet down the runway and maintained ground affect with about a 2O degree pitch up attitude. The pilot maintained ground affect as he retracted the gear as it was the first time he had retracted it during flight. Once the gear was up the aircraft continued in ground affect for just a little bit longer before climbing out. It was observed that even while in ground affect the aircraft seemed to be traveling at a slow airspeed. This slow airspeed continued during the climb. At approximately 3OOFT AGL and just north of runway 35R the aircraft briefly turned to the right then straightened. Once straightened out the aircraft snapped violently to the left in an apparent stall. The aircraft impacted the ground in a farmers field and immediately caught fire. The pilot did not survive.

As the FAA filed it
