From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On August 7, 2016, a Bell 206L4 operated by air evac was en route from a scene flight southeast of terrell airport (ktrl) to the dfw area. The flight path from the scene to the dfw area was directly over Mesquite airport (khqz), once it cleared the terrell airport area the pilot, contacted Mesquite tower and

Requested to transition the class d airspace and fly directly over the

Airport. Mesquite tower approved that action and told the pilot to report

One mile east of the runway. The pilot acknowledged, and started to contact

Operations center to update the flight plan. While doing that , the pilot noticed that the engine chip light had illuminated. The pilot amended his

Request with ATC and asked for immediate landing on the FBO ramp due to the chip light. Pilot did not

Declare an emergency. Tower called 911

Ambulance / fire as a precaution. Landing was made with no incident. Mesquite tower assisted in contacting an ambulance to continue with the patient transport by ground.
