From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On Tuesday 08/16/2016 at 21:00, the FAA received notification via c-roc of an incident which occurred at 0045Z (20:45 local) at Westerly state airport. Aircraft N969RS suffered a gear collapse upon landing.

The aircraft took off and landed on runway 25 at Westerly state (wst) airport and the purpose of the flight was for personal pleasure.

The aircraft was said to have landed at 85 knots. The aircraft landed 1000FT down the runway when the gear fully collapsed. The aircraft then had enough inertia to slide an additional 1000FT down the rest of the runway.

The pilot stated that upon landing, he flared, heard and felt the main tires touch down and felt his aircraft ?settle down? To the runway pavement till eventually his propeller struck the ground.

Witnesses on field stated that the gear was partially down while landing and they noticed the engine was running right before its sudden stoppage on runway.

There were no injuries and the aircraft was towed off the runway for maintenance.

There were maintainers present on scene during the incident. They were able to hear the gear warning horn while the aircraft lay on its belly on the runway. It was stated that the landing gear was partially extended, but not fully.
