From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On Friday, August 26, 2016, at approximately 1945 local time, N5400H was flying at 3500 MSL approximately 15 miles northeast of kcub airport. A buzzard struck the top, left side of the aircraft windshield, shattering it and causing other minor damages.

The pilot in command called Columbia approach and told them that he had an emergency. The aircraft was then vectored to kcub. The aircraft landed at kcub without incident.

Because the windshield cut pilot?s arm and there were buzzard guts and blood all over the pilot, he did go to an urgent care facility. The pilot?s cut was cleaned and he was put on antibiotics. His left eye also had a scratch on it which he received eye drops for that.

The passenger was not injured. The aircraft will be repaired at the certified repair station on kcub field.
