From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

N18NJ departed nashville (bna) at 1615 and arrived Dewitt Spain (M01) at 1740 with pilot and one passenger on board. As it neared the airport, the pilot stated that he heard a helicopter reporting that he was departing to the northeast. He entered from the east side of the airport and was trying to find the helicopter and giving his distance and altitude from the airport. As he was entering crosswind for runway 35, he spotted the helicopter departing to the northeast. He stated that as he was doing his mental checks, he got distracted looking for the helicopter and did not put the gear down. He did not notice it anymore until he touched down and realized after touchdown that the gear was still up. All three prop tips were damaged, as well as scuffing damage to the underside of the aircraft consistent with a gear up landing.

As the FAA filed it
