From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

A Cessna 177RG was enroute from cook municipal airport (kcqm) to field of dreams airport (04W). During cruise flight, pilot started hearing abnormal knocking from the engine. Pilot elected to divert to Cloquet/carlton county airport (kcoq). At 5 miles from the airport and approximately 2,200 feet AGL, oil pressure dropped to zero. At approximately 2.5 miles from the airport, the engine had catastrophic failure. Pilot was able to clear the trees and configure for landing. Pilot landed in a field and traveled 1280 feet before stopping. Aircraft came to rest 680 feet short of runway 17 when it entered the ditch next to road. During the final stop, the tail of the aircraft impacted the ground resulting in significant damage to the tail section.
